Calista Wehrli was 'a force'

Described as "a force in our large family" by niece Mary Lou Wehrli, Calista Wehrli died Monday morning of natural causes at St. Patrick's Nursing Home in Naperville. She was 85. Calista Wehrli was born June 25, 1925, one of 13 children of Frank and Gertrude Wehrli. She graduated from Naperville Community High School in 1943.

DuPage board OKs $70 million in bonds

DuPage County officials Tuesday afternoon approved a heavily debated plan to borrow $70 million to address an assortment of infrastructure ills. Although flood control was identified as a priority expenditure, about half of the bond proceeds will be funneled into projects located on the county's Wheaton campus.

Cops probe two-vehicle crash

Naperville police on Tuesday night continued their investigation into a two-vehicle crash in the far west-central part of the city. A man and a woman suffered minor injuries in the crash, which occurred about 6:17 p.m. in the intersection of 75th Street and Beebe Drive.

The doors to Key Wester closed abruptly Tuesday. The Florida Keys-themed seafood restaurant, which opened along Route 59 in Naperville in August 1996, was described as a labor of love on the part of restaurant owner Dick Portillo, and closing it was a "tough decision."
